Friends and Heroes: animated DVD series for children

Friends and Heroes, the award-winning TV series shown previously on BBC2, is an animated action-adventure for children, which weaves stories from both Old and New Testaments into every episode. Each episode follows the adventures of Macky and Portia, two teenagers who meet in Alexandria, Egypt and soon find themselves involved in daring escapades and intrigue. When they need inspiration, help or input they turn to ‘stories of Macky’s people’ – Bible stories. As the children follow Macky and his friends through the streets of Alexandria, they will understand that the Bible has much to offer as we try to decide what is right and what we should do today, as they did then. With amazingly engaging 3D animation, these stories are part of a dynamic tale of adventure which really captures children’s imagination.

There are 19 DVDs in all, a total of 39 episodes and plenty of exciting extras too, including quizzes and special interviews with Macky and Portia! Priced at £15 for each DVD, or £90 for a full series, hundreds of families, churches and schools are now using this series with their children.

Friends and Heroes for churches and schools

Friends and Heroes offer a Presenters Pack for each series which includes free lesson plans for schools and Sunday schools. Organisations who purchase a complete series of Friends and Heroes DVDs at just £90 will be provided with access to the free lessons automatically, along with the necessary public display licence . The lessons have been created by experienced teachers, with input from professional writers and designers. The Schools Lessons include material for Key Stages 1 and 2. The Bible Lessons for each series provide around six months of Sunday School material linked to the 13 episodes of the series, and provide all the guidance needed to provide dynamic involving lessons for almost any church situation. Lessons include instructions for themed games and crafts, and printable take-home fun activities too.
