Smith Wigglesworth was a simple, uneducated plumber from Bradford who struggled with public speaking until he was 48, when he received the baptism in the holy spirit. He was thereafter used mightily by God, thrust into an international evangelistic ministry, becoming a legend in his own lifetime at the turn of the twentieth century and continuing to be an inspiration in the twenty-first. Wigglesworth was renowned for his faith, for the healings that accompanied the clear teaching that the Holy Spirit continues to speak through in his books.
Ever Increasing Faith is a collection of messages that Wigglesworth preached in different parts of the world and was first published in 1924. These messages are full of encouragement and open up God’s promises in His bible in many key areas that will impact lives significantly. For example, the benefits of righteousness: “Oh, what privileges are ours when we are born of God. How marvelously He keeps us so that the wicked one touches us not. I see a place in God where Satan dare not come. Hidden in God. And He invites us all to come and share this wonderful hidden place where our lives are hid with Christ in God.”
Although he had one of the most powerful ministries known to the modern world, he knew that it was by God’s hand alone that it was possible and that the price is humility: “I believe that we are right on the threshold of wonderful things, but I want to emphasise that all these things will be through the power of the Holy Spirit. You must not think that these gifts will fall upon you like ripe cherries. There is a sense in which you have to pay the price for everything you get. We must covet God’s best gifts, and say Amen to any preparation the Lord takes us through so we may be humble, usable vessels through whom He can operate by means of the Spirit’s power.” “There are none of us who are anything; and the more we know we are nothing, the more God can make us a channel of His power.”
