It was a beautifully sunny day at the Seventh Day Adventists campsite a little above Chapel Porth beach. Inside a large dome shaped tent a night of excellent music was about to begin. Kicking off with Haran the evening started in a folk style.
Next up was Lossy, a young lady who is part Fijian, part Australian with a gentle warm accented vocal brought some lovely sensitive songs along with a couple of co-opted companions. One of whom she met on the train the day before and heard harmonising to a song on the radio, when she found they were heading to the same destination she asked her to sing with her!
An evening of differences and surprises continued when rap / spoken word artist Triple O took to the stage bringing tempo and insightful lyrics, not to mention getting the whole tent jumping, pretty much everyone was up for it from the youngest to the oldest.
A quick change of pace saw Philippa Hanna performing some of her latest songs from her brand new album “Speed of Light” which was released just the day before. It wasn’t just her newest songs but also some of her older repertoire including an excellent version of Raggedy Doll performed with Triple O which added a whole new dimension to this modern classic.
After a quick change-over the boys from Written In Kings were on the stage to rock the tent and the surrounding area so the evening could finish in style. They performed their trademark blend of heartfelt lyrics and impressive rock to bring the evening to a close.
