Daughters of Davis are performing at Catalyst 2016 on Monday 2nd May. Last year our friends at One Man In The Middle caught up with Fern and Adrienne for a chat. Here are some of the highlights.

Adrienne from Daughters of DavisFern from Daughters of DavisFern studied Fine Art and Adrienne was an Occupational Therapist before they hit the road fulltime as Daughters Of Davis. I asked Adrienne about the balance of a pressurised job and a burgeoning musical career. “That was one of the toughest things because, as an OT, you want to really dedicate your time to it and it’s a full career so I would literally do a days work and then come home and try and fit in the music in the evenings and then get up early and go in again. It ended up getting to much which is actually why we ended up hitting the road, I kind of quit my job and we saved up all our money to get a campervan which we just toured in around the UK for a good couple of years.”

This is a novel approach to getting known especially in the days of “The X-Factor”! Don’t worry though they are not still in an old campervan, instead they are in a brand new one! Fern explains, “I don’t know if you know our story. The thing is that first van we bought just died a death. It was a bit of a nightmare because it just kept breaking down all the time. Then what happened, amazingly, is that Elddis the motorhome company saw our DVD and they actually gave us a brand new motorhome which we’ve been in for the last couple of years now. We’re not in it as much as we used to be, but when we’re travelling around on tours and we’ll take the Elddis. It’s amazing.

So a passion for music sent them on the road, but what is the passion behind the passion? “For us we both really have strong faith and I think maybe that could be the motivation, or maybe that we just know that God has given us a desire to do music and the ability to play and lock in together. You know Eric Liddell from Chariots of Fire said “God made me fast and when I run I feel His light on me.” And I think kind of a similar way in singing and feel like I’m exactly where I am supposed to be when I am doing music and I think that locks tightly in with faith.
