Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th April at Epiphany House, Truro
An opportunity to spend time with God in silence, led by an experienced prayer guide.
It is good to take time away from the rush of everyday life… to pause and reflect on where you are, and how you are, in the journey of life. Jesus frequently did this.
Epiphany House is offering residential retreat opportunities creating a time and place in which to reflect, to consider the decisions you have made, or wish to make, and the priorities you want to set. Above all, it is a time to know more deeply the God who waits with love.
During the retreat you meet with an experienced prayer guide on a daily, one to one, basis. There is no set theme or series of meditations. The guide has no pre-set agenda. Rather, the guide listens to your life and faith concerns, the joys, the sorrows, the hopes and the fears, and then suggests ways you might be enabled to explore these concerns with God. To help with this, different passages of scripture will be offered for your time alone in private prayer. The guide will also help you to plan how you use the day ahead. Each meeting with your prayer -guide lasts between 40 and 50 minutes.
Apart from these meetings, each day of an IGR contains time for your individual reflection, time of prayer, and opportunities for walking or other relaxation. The silence that extends through these retreats, (except for the daily Service, and the meeting with prayer guide) is to minimise distractions and to enable you to get in touch with what is deepest in yourself. Meals too are taken in silence, with background music at both lunch and the evening meal.
Above all, an IGR is a time to “Be still and know that I am God” – a God who waits for each one of us, individually, with love.
