Servants is an international network of Christian communities living and working in the slums of Asia and the West, participating with the poor to bring hope and justice through Jesus Christ.
Servants live with the urban poor, learning from them, building genuine relationships, participating in their lives and struggles, learning their language and their culture, and working out how Jesus’ love can best be shown in their context. Out of those relationships, Servants can act as catalysts within their communities, working to create sustainable transformation that depends on mobilising the ideas, skills, energies and resources that the poor already have. The projects and programmes that develop from these relationships are grown with the aim from the beginning of handing over responsibility to local people. Servants aim to grow disciples of Christ and to raise up servant-hearted leaders to equip the body of Christ within each community.

Ways to get involved
There are currently Servants working in Asia in the Philippines, Cambodia, India, Indonesia and Myanmar. Servants also have communities in Canada and the UK. If you think that joining Servants as an intern in a community might be for you, there is lots of information on their website at http://www.servantsasia.org/.
There are Sending Offices in the USA, New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Switzerland where advocacy, member care and administration take place. Whether your gifts are in administration, finance, pastoral care, counselling or campaigning, get in touch to find out what volunteer opportunities are available. Creative Justice groups meet in the USA, New Zealand and England, using creativity to work for the transformation of unjust situations around the world.
Servants always need support in prayer. On their website there is a brief outline of their prayer needs and a place to contact Servants to receive a monthly prayer email update or to join a prayer group near you. You can also find out about ways to give financially.
