Transformation Cornwall is inviting individuals and organisations who have expressed an interest in supporting Syrian refugees who may resettle in Cornwall to an event to discuss what can be achieved together.
The meeting, chaired by Bishop Tim, Bishop of Truro, and Sarah Newton MP will be in Truro on Friday 8th January at 2.30pm.
Whilst none of the government’s first phase of refugees travelling to the UK this year are currently destined for Cornwall, we are putting plans in place so that we would be ready and able to help if needed with the next phase in early 2016. The appropriate agencies will be involved in providing the statutory requirements such as housing, education and health. However, this meeting will explore how communities in Cornwall can support them to help them integrate and thrive.
There is already a lot going on across Cornwall, but it’s hoped this meeting will bring everyone together to share ideas, put people in touch with each other and help coordinate things where that would be helpful. If you are interested in offering some support or have some ideas, please follow this link to book a place by Monday 14th December.
The final details on venue will be sent out nearer the time, depending on the number of people interested.
