Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Almighty God, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, we thank You and praise You for Your Goodness and Loving Kindness, Your Mercy and Your Grace. Thank You especially for the gift of Your Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and for sending the Holy Spirit to live in us and around us to guide and comfort us. We love You and Honour You.

We are so thankful that we have freedom to come together in our churches, in our streets and in our homes to worship You. Help us to truly treasure this freedom.

We thank You and praise You for the many wonders of Your awesome creation – for the great beauty of the land of Cornwall in which we are privileged to live; the majestic hills and valleys, cliffs and sea, for the variety of living creatures, fresh air and wonderful views.

Thank You for the rich relationships between brothers and sisters in Christ as we stand shoulder to shoulder in unity. And Thank You for all who serve and contribute in any way in our communities and for the many opportunities You give to share the Good News, particularly in schools and on the streets.

Thank You for our good inheritance handed down over the centuries by saints who have served in Cornwall and who have left Cornwall to serve elsewhere. For all those in leadership today, we thank You. We see courage, integrity, and wisdom in your chosen leaders for which we bless You.

2 Chronicles 7 v 14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

In the name of Jesus, Merciful Father, Mighty God, we come before you to repent for our own sins and to stand in the gap for the sins of our families and for the people who live, and have lived in times past, in this beautiful land of Cornwall.

Merciful God, will you soften and melt our hearts so that our prayers of repentance will flow to you like they did from David when he repented of his adultery with Bathsheba, and he cried out … “Create in me a clean heart O God, And renew a steadfast spirit in me” (Psalm 51 v 10).

And, Lord, great and awesome God, please will you give us the heart of Daniel who, set his face toward You and humbled himself, repenting for the sins of his nation, including the previous generations, as though he had committed those same sins himself. Even though he was a righteous man (Daniel, 9 v 4 – 5).

And, Lord God, please will You unite us for this cause so that we can pray with one heart as your people of Cornwall, like the remnant who returned to Jerusalem with Ezra, your priest and scribe. They turned back to you with much weeping and determination for they had suffered much. (Ezra 10 v 1)

Merciful Father, as we make our repentance before you today we ask You for very, very, very great mercy towards us.

And this is the confession that we make before You for our sins:

We have but one plea GUILTY
We have but one advocate JESUS
We have but one remedy THE BLOOD OF JESUS

And Holy Father as we come before you to seek Your forgiveness for our sins, we choose this day to forgive all of those who have sinned against us and we ask You to bless them. And where their sins against us have caused deep hurt and devastation in our lives, please heal our hearts.

Genesis 1 v 26
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Merciful Father, we ask forgiveness for all our greed and love of money, where these things have resulted in poor and selfish stewardship of Your land in Cornwall.

Forgive us where we have taken more of the resources of the land than You purposed for us, thus plundering the inheritances of future generations. Forgive us where we have taken more than our share of the precious minerals and clay from the land  Forgive us where,  in our haste to extract these riches under the land, we have outrun the ability of the land to recover and have left great stretches of land barren. Forgive us where we have drilled too deep and risked subsidence of the land.

Father, forgive us where we have desired great harvests of  vegetables and grains for ourselves, but have not allowed the land time to recover, thus leaving the land in poor condition for those who have inherited it. Forgive us when the farming methods we have used have resulted in soil erosion, barrenness of the soil, and vulnerability of plants to pests and diseases. Forgive us when we have used toxic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and sprays to our own hurt and to the hurt of the land.  Father God, forgive us when we have totally relied upon the findings of science, without first consulting You, our Creator God.

Merciful Father, we ask Your forgiveness when we have treated the animals You have entrusted to our care with cruelty or neglect. Forgive us where our desire for greater yields has resulted in over intensive feeding and breeding programmes and over use of chemicals to our own hurt and to the hurt of many animals.

Merciful Father, we ask Your forgiveness, where our desire for great catches has resulted in fishing methods that have destroyed fish habitats and wasted small fish. At the same time, Father, we choose to forgive and bless those in authority over our fishing industry who have imposed unfair working practices on our fishermen.

And, loving Father, we ask forgiveness for where we have failed to maintain the premises and equipment used in mining, farming and fishing, leaving them to the next generation in poor repair. Forgive us our tendency in Cornwall to do things ‘dreckly’.

We turn to You now, Creator God and ask for Your wisdom and provision for those working in the mining, farming, and fishing industries and for Your intervention in the strategic and consultative bodies that make decisions for these industries in Cornwall.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Jeremiah 25 v 5-6
“Repent now every one of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given you and your fathers forever and ever. Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke me to anger with the works of your own hands to your own hurt”.

Oh Holy God, We and this County have sinned by not repenting for the past and the present Spiritual Defilement of the Land. As we look back into the history of Cornwall we see that false religions; freemasonry; witchcraft involving rituals at ancient standing stones and wells, witchcraft involving spells and magic cures for healing and cursing; spiritualism; satanism and New Age beliefs are a part of all we are today. Holy God this has almost always been carried out in secret so that the people of Cornwall do not know what is taking place, apart from those going through the rituals and ceremonies. You observe these dark practices and they are an abomination to You. You know every one by name and what takes place in darkness is light to you, and the hearts who carry them out are open to your gaze. They have had and still do have a great spiritual effect on our daily lives.

We also ask forgiveness where our forms of worship to You and the works of our hands have been based upon the traditions of men and have not been pleasing to You.

Today, Holy Father, we renounce all of these things, and, we ask you, to bring cleansing to us and to all the water courses, the land, the buildings and the ancient stones and wells in Cornwall that have been used in an unGodly way, by the precious blood of Jesus.

And, merciful Father, we ask you to intervene to rescue all of us in Cornwall who are involved in these things. We ask You also to shed your light on all wolves in sheep’s clothing and have mercy on them.  And, Loving Father, we ask You to draw the hearts of the ones Your gaze is upon now to Jesus, to cleanse, heal and empower them for their new lives in You.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Leviticus 19 v 11
“Do not steal, do not lie, do not deceive, do not defraud your neighbour or rob him. Do not hold the wages of a hired man over night”

Merciful Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus and cry to You for mercy for the way we have so openly broken your commandment as recorded in Exodus 20 v 15 “ Do not steal”.

We ask forgiveness when we have stolen from one another, especially from our employers. We also ask forgiveness for when we have underpaid and withheld wages from employees. We ask forgiveness for when mine workers of Cornwall were often exploited in days past, by paying them an unfair wage and treating them harshly.

We ask forgiveness for all shop lifting, burglary, obtaining money by deception, fraud, armed robbery and robbery with violence and even murder.

We ask forgiveness for the deliberate wrecking of ships at times around the Cornish coast to steal their  cargoes.

We also ask forgiveness for all  piracy on the high seas, when we have murdered seamen and stolen their ships and their precious cargoes including much gold.

We ask forgiveness for our smuggling, especially drugs and alcohol that have ruined so many lives; and for stealing the duty due on goods smuggled. We also ask forgiveness for all our illegal non-payment of taxes.

Father, forgive us when we have sailed to far away lands and exploited and cheated vulnerable people, plundering their minerals and produce. We have acted corruptly and taught them the ways of corruption and we repent of our sins.

Holy Father we ask forgiveness for all forms of stealing and financial deception that has taken place in Your name. We ask for very great mercy for this.

Merciful Father, please restore us and help us to become a people of integrity and righteousness.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Romans 12 v 3 – 16 (selected)
“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought………Love must be sincere…… Honour one another above yourself….Share with people who are in need. Practise hospitality…..Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud but be willing to associate with those of lower position and do not be conceited.”

Oh God, the Righteous Judge, who knows all things and from whom nothing is hid……our desire is to be transparent before you and to acknowledge the sin and depravity of our hearts regarding our arrogance and our pride, our prejudice and our presumption, our cruelty and  inhumanity in the way we have dealt with others, made also in Your image, but who are of a different ethnic group, nationality or religion. We also ask Your forgiveness for all white supremacy and memberships of racist organisations.

We ask forgiveness for our part in the great slave trade, where we here in Cornwall exploited human lives by prospering from their inhuman trafficking. We ask forgiveness for knowingly selling our tin to make coins for slave trade transactions and for using our ships and ports to further this profane industry.

We also ask forgiveness for employing slaves in Cornwall on the land and in the mines and forcing them to do the most dangerous, dirty and exhausting work without commensurate recompense. We ask  forgiveness for employing and mistreating so-called ‘freed slaves’ on some of our large estates and gentry farms. We ask forgiveness for the many ways in which we abused all of these precious people and for the terrible suffering we caused them.

Merciful Father, forgive us the pride and arrogance and elitism that could foster such an attitude of superiority and deceit that we could, with a hardened conscience, be untouched by such gross sin. Thank you for the stirrings of your Holy Spirit in the hearts of your people who finally saw the  abolition of legal slave trading.

We also ask your forgiveness for the way we, as part of the British Isles, treated the people of those nations where we ruled in the days of the British Empire. We ask forgiveness where we ruled with cruelty, duplicity, pride and self-righteousness. We did bring the benefits and experience of a developed nation to these countries and for those gifts we give you thanks, but we left these nations at the time of their independence, still holding psychological and financial control through the banks and the businesses. This left many nations with insurmountable debt and a spirit of dependency and for that we are truly sorry. The Cornish Church, our Cornish members of parliament and aristocracy all played their part in promoting these attitudes.

Finally, Father, we ask forgiveness for the deep-seated national pride and racism that survives deep in us and in the land of Cornwall. The great British Empire is no more but its spirit of superiority and arrogance still lives on in the prejudices we so often hold in respect to other people groups. For some of us in Cornwall this even extends to our own countrymen who bless our tourist trade. We welcome them to their faces, while describing them as emmets, behind their backs.

Merciful Father, we ask forgiveness for all of these things and ask you to soften our hearts to see all men as equals and our brothers. Fill us with your love and compassion Lord Jesus.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Matthew 19 v 4-6
“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Proverbs 11 v 29
Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.

Holy Father, we ask your forgiveness, for so much family devastation in the land of Cornwall. Forgive us for so much heart-break and despair. Forgive us where we have not  taught our children about Jesus, and the instructions you have given us for daily living as laid down in the ten commandments. Forgive us where have not followed them ourselves. Forgive us our lack of Godly discipline.

In your mercy O LORD,
Forgive us for our loose living and high rates of divorce.
Forgive us when our commitment to marriage is often taken too lightly.
Forgive us for committing adultery and blaming it on others.
Forgive us for pornographic addictions, alcohol and drug addictions.
Forgive us for making money more important than family relationships.
Forgive us for not forgiving those in our families who have offended us.
Forgive us for causing division in our families or not doing more to stop it.
Forgive us for all of the violence that has taken place in our family and for not doing more to rescue the victims.
Forgive us for taking the lives of our unborn children.
Forgive us for incest.
Forgive us for all sexual child abuse in the family and forgive us where we have been aware of it and not intervened to rescue the victim.
Forgive us for all neglect of our elderly and disabled relatives.
Forgive us for our hard hearts towards one another.

We confess that we have sinned against you and we ask You for very great mercy to us.

We pray for healing of our marriages and all family relationships. Please give back the years the locust has eaten. Make a way, where there seems to be no way. Restore hope, show us what to do, for our future belongs to You. We declare that Jesus is Lord of Cornwall’s families.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Ephesians 5 v 5
For this you know that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God

Our Father, Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, we come before you in distress, humiliation and contrition at our failure to hinder the increase of sexual wrong doing in Cornwall as You would expect us as your church to do.

We ask forgiveness for all our promiscuity, homosexuality, lesbianism, all sexual addiction and all sexual perversions. We ask forgiveness for rape, pornography and all sexual sins against children.

We sorrow before you where we have not taught our children what You say in the Holy Scriptures concerning sexual behaviour and where we have not obeyed your instructions ourselves. Lord, we ask for your forgiveness where we have dressed  immodestly and allowed our children to do the same. Forgive us for our failure to protect the children in Cornwall who are being robbed of their innocence. Forgive us where we have allowed them to be taught that it is acceptable to have sexual intercourse as and when and how they personally decide. We are sorry for the high rates of teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, promiscuity and abortions that have resulted.

We plead Your forgiveness for the flood of violence and sexual promiscuity that comes into this land through television screens, cinema screens, videos, computer, newspapers and through the pornographic magazines in our shops. Forgive us for what we have seen and for what our children have seen. We lament past failures adequately to support and pray for those You called to warn us of the dangers of these things.

We  ask Your forgiveness for our failure to ask You to intercede on our behalf to bring about change. We now ask you to rescue all of us who are in trouble with these things. We ask you to pour out Your love and mercy to heal and restore us.

We also ask you to strengthen our laws to protect the innocent and remove sexually immoral and perverse things from our homes, shops, schools, and from the media.

Father, have mercy upon us. Lord we give you our shame.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Romans 1 v 16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to bring salvation to everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Father, please forgive us, for forsaking the Hebrew roots of our faith and incorporating thinking and customs from ancient Greece and Rome.  We repent where your church has added the traditions of men to the purity and simplicity of the Holy Scriptures to our own hurt (Matthew 15 v 3 & 15 6b).

And, Merciful Father, we ask forgiveness for our wrong attitudes towards Israel, Your ancient covenant people. You have prophesied their return to their homeland many times in Scripture and we are watching it being fulfilled in front of our eyes. And yet we act as though they have nothing to do with us.

Merciful Father, please forgive us for our pride in failing to understand we are grafted into their olive tree which is Israel ( Romans 11:17-24). We repent where we have separated the Church from Israel, and as a result have not seen the powerful workings of  ‘the one new man’, Jew and Gentile labouring together in Your kingdom as You have ordained (Ephesians 2:14-22)

Father, forgive our lack of compassion in failing to pray for Israel and the Jewish people in their hour of need and where we are leaving Israel to fight major spiritual battles alone.

We remember that Mordecai said to Esther, ‘If we keep silent at this time, know that relief and deliverance will come for the Jews from elsewhere, but that we and our father’s house will perish.’  Please help us to grasp that we must stand with Israel ‘for such a time as this’! (Esther 4:14)

We repent of being ashamed to link with the Jews. We ask forgiveness for all antisemitism, mockery and negative thinking in Cornwall when we know that antisemitism led to the holocaust in the Second World War. You call yourself ‘The Lord God of Israel’ and the ‘God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’. You, Jesus, were a Jew and we owe to the Jews a debt of gratitude for ever. Grant understanding to Your Church in these days that You will bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse her, so we cannot afford to be ignorant of these Spiritual laws. ( Genesis 12:1-3 )

Forgive us that we have hurt Your heart, Lord, by our disobedience. You commanded us to ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem’ and we have not done so. Soften our hearts to all these things, Lord.

In these days when the whole world seems against Israel, please help us be a true friend to her. We rejoice and thank you that You are slowly tearing the veil, and many are coming to faith in Y’shua. We pray for the mighty day when all Israel will be saved! (Romans 11:25 & 26)

We pray also that Israel will deal righteously and justly with those who rise against her and that she will show mercy to her enemies, even when they are not merciful to her. We recognise all the Arab peoples as descendants of Abraham and we pray for a just resolution to the conflicts in the Middle East, for You desire that all shall be saved and none be lost.

And now, Father, in the name of Jesus we bless the Jewish people, the nation of Israel and Jerusalem, the city where Jesus walked and taught, and where He will return. We bless them with Shalom peace and ask You Lord protect them from their enemies! AMEN

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

Proverbs 3 v 5-6.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”

Merciful Father, we ask forgiveness for all of our rebellion against You. We ask forgiveness for breaking each of the ten commandments, and the instructions You have given us for living righteous lives. We have trampled these things underfoot and followed the desires of our own hearts, to our own hurt.

O Holy God, we come to you this day to ask your forgiveness for all of our spiritual pride. Forgive us where we have sought to make our names famous before Yours. Forgive us our empire building in the church, for our self idolatry and where we have been quick to teach others and slow to learn from them. Forgive us where we have been zealous for You in public where we are seen by men, but absent from the Secret Place. Forgive us where you have given us words intended for others and we have acted as if they were our own. Forgive us when You have moved in power in Cornwall and we have taken the credit for what only You can do.

And Merciful God, we ask forgiveness for all our human pride. We ask forgiveness for our self-sufficiency, self idolatry, elitism, snobbery and superior attitudes. We ask Your forgiveness for all our selfish ambition, competition and power seeking in the daily business of our lives, to the hurt of others and ourselves. Forgive us where we have acted in the same way to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

And, Merciful Father, forgive us where we have strayed so far from You that we have built idols in our lives that now control us to our own hurt. Forgive us where we have addictions to DIY, television, sports, people, jobs, clubs and anything at all that we have placed in our lives before You. We know these idols need destroying. Please show us what they are and help us to walk in freedom.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

John 17 v.21
“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world may believe that you sent me”

I saw a vision of pastors kneeling together, their heads almost touching as they wept and prayed for one another.

Lord, you know how far we are from seeing this vision becoming a reality in Cornwall! We are so sorry that we have turned your church into our church. Your constant command to us is that we love one another and that we will all be one. Lord, we want to change! We repent of our spiritual pride, empire building, insecurity, selfishness and self-sufficiency which have caused us to be so disunited.

We therefore ask you to help us to begin to love and cherish your church. We want to look outside ourselves and to encourage and build up our fellow believers. We want to see the Kingdom of God established more effectively in Cornwall and recognise that the spirit of division, disunity and elitism has reigned among us. We repent of this and ask for the Kingdom of God to be established not only in our fellowship but in other fellowships as well. We ask You to help our pastors and leaders to pray with and for one another and to make a way for our fellowships also to pray for one another and to work with one another. We are desperate for your church to know a new power and effectiveness in seeing many respond to your wonderful gospel. Amen!

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us!

1 Kings 18 v 21
And Elijah came to all the people and said “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God follow Him; but if Baal, follow him”

Merciful Father, we ask forgiveness for our double mindedness, compromise and hypocrisy in the church in Cornwall; for our disobedience, lukewarmness and rebellion. We have not put the first commandment first: to love you with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength. Forgive us God. We acknowledge this is sin. Forgive us for not taking your scriptures seriously. Right now, we say again that we want You and only You, Lord. Please convict us. Please forgive us.

We repent for ignoring both your written word and your living word spoken through your Holy Spirit. You tell us clearly that you will spit us out of your mouth if we are lukewarm and in rebellion. We have settled for compromise in so many areas that your church no longer shines as we should.

We are not living wholeheartedly for King Jesus and His Kingdom that will fill the earth with its reign. Forgive us for hypocrisy and mockery. We turn from these sins. We turn our hearts to you to live set apart; to express true love, shown by your standards and measure. Return to us as we now return to you.

Father, forgive us where we want blessing but are unwilling to deal with our own sins and where we are indifferent to you. We recognise that righteousness is rare.

Forgive us when we call things holy which grieve you, where we no longer live pure lives, separated from the ways of the world. God forgive us for not taking you seriously and imagining that You will not act. We are on a knife-edge of disaster. The world waits for rescue. And You wait for our response. We repent Father. We turn. Have mercy on us. We want to love You by following through on hard choices.

Father forgive us for wearing masks which make us look holy on the outside, when underneath we are self-reliant, lacking love and continuing in godless deeds. Forgive us for our lack of true worship in Spirit and truth. Come to us again we cry. Change us on the inside.

Forgive us God for the open stand against your ways. For announcing in meetings that we love you whilst holding you at a distance in our private lives. Oh God, we ask You for the fear of the Lord and a shift across the Body of Christ in Cornwall to bring us back to a radical, uncompromising, holy faith. We cry out to You, our great God, for a new day of wholehearted love. We want to be obedient in all that you ask us to be and do. Come Holy Spirit! Give us as a church in Cornwall a heart of turning, of burning, of being the generation that bears your name with holy trembling, love and obedience, in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord hear our prayer and have mercy on us.

1 Kings 18 v 38 – 39
Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces ; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

Romans 12 v 1-2
I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is Your reasonable service.

Loving Father, we present ourselves now as a living sacrifice together with the beautiful land of Cornwall represented by this map. And, Father, we ask You to examine our hearts. We choose to turn from our wicked ways. We ask You will help us in this.

And, Father, where there are persistent sins in our families that appear time and time again in successive generations, if our prayers and the motivation of our hearts are acceptable to You, please will You destroy the roots of these sins and set us and our families free.

And, Father, if our prayers and the motivation of our hearts are acceptable to you, we ask You to hear from Heaven and heal us, our families, and Your beautiful land of Cornwall.

And, Merciful Father, if our prayers and the motivations of our hearts are acceptable to you we ask You to restore to us, to our families and to Your beautiful land of Cornwall all the years that the locusts have eaten.

And Merciful Father, if our prayers and the motivations of our hearts are acceptable to You, we ask You to release from Heaven the blessings that You have stored up for us, for our families and for Your beautiful land of Cornwall.

Loving Father, we ask You to restore us to be a fruitful people and a fruitful land to the praise of Your Glory.
